Driver Workflow & Mobile Access

How drivers receive orders, update container status, collect signatures, and complete deliveries from their phone.

Overview

Drivers access UTX Freight through their mobile browser — no app download required. Once a dispatcher assigns an order and sends the Magic Driver Link, the driver can:

  • View all assigned orders for the day
  • Update container number and container status
  • Collect signatures for delivery and pickup
  • Mark orders as delivered or returned

Quick Start

  1. The dispatcher sends you a Magic Driver Link via text or email.
  2. Click the link — you are automatically logged in.
  3. Your assigned orders appear on screen.
  4. Tap an order to update its status or collect a signature.

Logging In

Drivers log in using the Magic Driver Link — a special URL that auto-authenticates without needing a username or password.

How it works:

  1. A dispatcher assigns you to an order on the Dispatch board.
  2. A share icon appears next to your name.
  3. The dispatcher clicks the icon, copies the link, and sends it to you.
  4. You click the link on your phone and you're in.

Tip

Bookmark the link — it stays valid for your session. If it expires, ask your dispatcher to send a new one.

Viewing Your Orders

Once logged in, you see all orders assigned to you. Each order shows:

  • Order type and order number
  • Customer name and delivery address
  • Container # and container size
  • Special Note — instructions from the dispatcher (shown in red)

Collecting Signatures

The signature workflow depends on the order type:

Import Orders (Container Delivery)

Step Action Button
1 Deliver container to customer Sign DELIVERY
2 Return empty container to terminal Drop Completed

Export Orders (Container Pickup)

Step Action Button
1 Drop empty container at customer Sign DROP
2 Pick up loaded container Sign PICKUP

Dry Van / LCL Orders

Step Action Button
1 Pick up goods Sign PICKUP
2 Deliver goods Sign DELIVERY

Transfer Orders

Step Action Button
1 Move container between terminals Transfer Completed

Entering the container number

For Transfer orders, you will be asked to enter the Container Number before completing the transfer.

How to Sign

  1. Tap the signature button (Sign DELIVERY, Sign PICKUP, etc.).
  2. The signature pad appears on screen.
  3. Have the receiver sign with their finger on the pad.
  4. Tap Save to confirm.

The signature, along with the date and time, is recorded on the order and visible to dispatchers and managers.

Updating Container Status

Drivers can update the container status from mobile as the delivery progresses:

  • Dropped at Customer — container left at the customer site
  • Empty at Customer — container unloaded
  • Full at Customer — container loaded and ready
  • Returned to terminal — empty container returned

The status update is immediately visible to dispatchers on the Dispatch board.

Refreshing Orders

Tap the Refresh button at the bottom of the screen to reload your order list. New assignments from the dispatcher will appear after a refresh.

FAQ / Troubleshooting

Solution

The link may have expired. Ask your dispatcher to generate a new Magic Driver Link from the Dispatch board. Make sure you're opening it in your phone's web browser, not inside an app (like Facebook Messenger's built-in browser).

Orders are missing from my list

Solution

Only Dispatched orders assigned to you appear. If the dispatcher just added a new order, tap Refresh at the bottom of the screen. If it still doesn't show, confirm with your dispatcher that the order is dispatched and assigned to your name.

Signature doesn't save

Solution

Make sure you have an internet connection. The signature requires a network connection to upload. If you're in a dead zone, wait until you have signal and try again.

Screenshots Needed

Screenshots to capture

  2. Signature pad — the mobile signature capture screen with the finger-draw area
  3. Import order actions — showing the "Sign DELIVERY" and "Drop Completed" buttons
  4. Transfer order — showing the container number field and "Transfer Completed" button
